ALONG THE RENO RIVER

- From the dawn of Man, rivers have always been used as a means of communication. This holds true for the Reno River Valley, which allowed contact and trade between the plains and the mountains. Today, this trail is perfect for spending a relaxing day, surrounded by the beauty of nature and culture in a rich variety of forms. Beginning with an element of artistic and historical significance, the path winds along the the spectacular Balzo del Prunarolo rock face, in which the Roman acquaduct is found, and the moonscape of the steep, eroded walls of the Sabbiuno and Pieve del Pino badlands. While not a particularly difficult trail, it nonetheless offers some breathtaking views. Palazzo de’ Rossi, Late-Gothic style, 15th century palace Ponte di Vizzano, suspension bridge across the Reno, built in the 1930's Oasi San Gherardo, Nature Reserve housed in a former gravel-pit, ideal for birdwatching Acquedotto romano, 2000 year old Roman acquaduct, still in use today Arrival at Parco Talon (Casalecchio di Reno) along the right bank of the Reno (CAI trail 112)
